Scrum Reference Card

This Scrum Reference Card was prepared by Michael James and Luke Walter.

Intro:
Scrum is a management framework for incremental product development using one or more cross-functional, self-organizing teams of about seven people each. It provides a structure of roles, meetings, rules, and artifacts. Teams are responsible for creating and adapting their processes within this framework. Scrum uses fixed-length iterations, called Sprints. Sprints are no more than 30 days long, preferably shorter. Scrum teams try to build a potentially releasable (properly tested) product increment every Sprint.

[8] Condition Index (as per FRPC) is a general measure of the constructed asset's condition at a specific point in time.

CI = [1 - ($repair needs/ $PRV)] x 100

Repair Needs is the amount necessary to ensure restoration to the originally intended and designed capacity, efficiency, or capability. PRV or Plant Replacement Value (also known as Functional Replacement Value) is the cost of replacing an existing asset at today's standards. The higher the CI, the better the condition of the asset.

[9] As per FRPC, a constructed asset's Annual Operating Costs consist of the following:
  • Recurring maintenance and repair costs
  • Utilities (includes plant operation, purchase of energy)
  • Cleaning and/or janitorial costs (includes pest control, refuse collection, and disposal to include recycling operations)
  • Roads/grounds expenses (includes grounds maintenance, landscaping, and snow and ice removal from roads, piers, and airfields)
  • For leased assets, add the full annual lease costs, including base and operating rent.

Rent Adjustment by CPI

SAP Real Estate module features a function that adjust rent by Consumer Price Index. Based on a corresponding index, the new rental fee is adjusted with reference to an identified rent-index ratio.

For example, based on the attached index, if the rent on April 2000 is $1,000, the adjusted rent on April 2007 would be about $1,207. That is, if the index rate 178.7 corresponds to rent of $1,000, then index rate 215.8 should correspond to rental rate of $1,207.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics updates CPI data here. As per this website, the November 2007 CPI data are scheduled to be released on December 14, 2007.

SAP Real Estate Management Value and Process Innovation 2007

From SAP Info:

SAP AG announced accelerated customer adoption and innovative new processes for SAP Real Estate Management, a full-featured application for managing all types of real estate.

Companies in 40 countries across more than 20 industries − including Copenhagen Airports; Forest City Enterprises, a U.S.-based real estate company; Halliburton, a provider of products and services to the energy industry and NATS, the United Kingdom’s leading provider of air traffic management − use the application to gain better control and analysis of their real estate portfolios.

SAP customers will demonstrate the benefits they are gaining from the deployment of the application at the International SAP Real Estate Management Conference in Barcelona, Spain, September 17 – 19 and the Americas’ SAP Real Estate Management Conference in Chicago, Illinois, October 16 – 18. At the conferences, SAP experts, partners and customers will discuss and demonstrate how SAP Real Estate Management helps corporate, commercial and public real estate managers to achieve transparency, streamline their business processes and support investment strategies.

Recently, SAP announced the availability of the second enhancement package for SAP ERP which includes innovations in SAP Real Estate Management (see July 31, 2007 press release). This new functionality supports additional corporate real estate scenarios such as simplified management of space, rooms, moves and service charge settlements, as well as improved support for lease management in multiple currencies.
